JERUSALEM, April 9, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities forced a Jerusalemite resident to demolish his own home in the Silwan neighborhood, south of occupied Jerusalem, on Thursday.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the occupation authorities forced Ahmad Muhammad Shahada Qwaider to demolish his home in the Al-Bustan area of Silwan after the Israeli municipality issued a final demolition order. Qwaider did so to avoid hefty fines that the municipality would impose if it carried out the demolition itself.
The Governorate added that the house, which has stood since 2010, is approximately 60 square meters and is inhabited by the husband, wife, and their child. The Israeli municipality had previously imposed a fine of approximately 100,000 shekels on the property.
