Arab League Welcomes Fatah-Hamas Mecca Agreement
CAIRO, February 10, 2007 (WAFA) -- Arab League Council's permanent representatives expressed on Saturday in an extraordinary meeting its greeting for the Palestinian Fatah-Hamas Mecca Areement and reconciliation for forming a Palestinian national unity government.
An Arab League draft communique said the council followed very closely the Palestinian negotiations and dialogue in Mecca which were called upon by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz which resulted in the agreement.
The draft also mentioned council's appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the custodian of the two holy mosques for the initiative and support of the recently held talks.
The council called upon all Palestinian factions to maintain the sanctity of the Palestinian blood, its unity, and to concentrate on the main struggle of establishing a Palestinian state.
The council also called on all parties involved in the international community to help immediately lift the unjust sanctions on the Palestinian people so they can go back to normal life and carry on with everyday activities.
