RAMALLAH, June 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, warned on Sunday that continued Israeli escalation and support for colonist violence would keep the region "on the edge of a volcano," cautioning against the consequences of such policies for regional security and stability.
Abu Rudeineh stressed that the Palestinian issue cannot be marginalized or bypassed, emphasizing that the failure to reach a just solution will prolong wars and crises in the region.
He noted that growing international recognition of Palestinian rights, along with continued support for international legitimacy and ongoing global political shifts, presents an opportunity that the international community and the United States should seize to help resolve regional conflicts and achieve security and stability for all.
He further stated that the Palestinian cause is a just one, deeply rooted in history, and that attempts to ignore Palestinian rights or impose faits accomplis on the ground will neither bring security nor confer legitimacy on the occupation and its colonial policies.
Abu Rudeineh reiterated that resolving the Palestinian issue in accordance with Arab and international resolutions remains the foundation for achieving regional and international stability and ending recurring cycles of conflict.
