JERUSALEM, June 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli forces on Sunday detained a Palestinian man near the Damascus Gate area of occupied Jerusalem.
Local sources told WAFA that Israeli police detained the 43-year-old while he was in the vicinity of Damascus Gate and transferred him to an interrogation center.
The sources added that Israeli forces maintained a heavy presence around Damascus Gate and throughout the alleys of Jerusalem’s Old City, amid heightened security measures targeting Palestinian residents.
Damascus Gate, one of the main entrances to the Old City of Jerusalem, has witnessed frequent Israeli military and police deployments, often accompanied by arrests, detentions, and restrictive measures imposed on Palestinians as part of broader policies implemented by Israeli authorities in the city.
