PARIS, June 7, 2026 (WAFA) – French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said on Sunday that France is considering imposing additional sanctions on Israeli colonists in response to the expansion of what he described as illegal colonial activity in the occupied West Bank and increasing violence against Palestinians.

Speaking to reporters, Barrot said that “other, more stringent sanctions could be imposed in the coming days,” expressing deep concern over the escalation of colonial activity and growing attacks by Israeli colonists against Palestinians.

“I am deeply concerned about the intensification of illegal colonial expansion in the West Bank and the rise in violence by Israeli colonistsagainst Palestinians,” he said.

Barrot added that he is advocating for sanctions not only against individuals responsible for acts of violence, but also against entities, companies, and organizations in Israel that provide extremist colonists with the means to expel Palestinians from their land, burn crops, and destroy public property.
