Apartheid Wall Construction Violates Road Map Peace Plan
GENEVA, April 17, 2004 (WAFA)-The United Nations International Meeting on the impact of the construction of the Apartheid Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory expressed Friday deep concern about the consequences of its construction.... In a document issued after a two-day meeting in Geneva, participants said that the construction of the Wall has violated the letter and the spirit of the Road Map peace plan and creates a de facto annexation of the Palestinian lands.... "Israel dealt another devastating blow to the Palestinian economy, which was on the verge of collapse after three years of destruction and restrictions imposed by the occupying Power" the document said.... The Permanent Observer for Palestine to United Nations, Nasser Al-Kidwa, said that the Wall presented the biggest threat to establish peace in the region and made the two-State solution practically impossible.... Al-Kidwa considered the Apartheid Wall a war crime and demanding to stop and to remove it.... "it constituted a war crime and, thus, should be stopped and removed", Kidwa said. The Participants also called on the international community to take immediate steps to stop the Apartheid Wall's construction....
