GAZA, June 23, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces issued forced evacuation orders on Monday evening for residents in central Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, in apparent preparation for renewed airstrikes or a ground incursion.
WAFA correspondent reported that the orders targeted blocks 107, 108, and 109, directing civilians to flee westward toward the Al-Mawasi area, already severely overcrowded with displaced people.
The Khan Yunis Governorate, especially the Al-Mawasi area, which stretches along the Mediterranean coast from Deir al-Balah to northern Khan Younis, is now hosting approximately 1.5 million displaced Palestinians.
Since the start of Israel’s ongoing genocidal war, the total number of displaced people across the Gaza Strip has risen to 2 million, out of a pre-war population of 2.3 million.
Gaza’s population has endured multiple waves of forced displacement in a desperate search for safety amid relentless bombardment. Yet no area has been spared, with hospitals, schools, and United Nations facilities—many converted into emergency shelters—also coming under attack.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel's aggression on the Gaza Strip has resulted in the killing of more than 55,998 civilians and injuries to 131,559 others, the majority of whom are children and women.
Thousands remain unaccounted for under the rubble. The ongoing offensive has also created a severe humanitarian crisis, with widespread famine killing hundreds of children and elderly people amid mass destruction.
