Israeli forces detain two Palestinians from Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, June 23, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Monday evening detained two Palestinians from the Old City of Jerusalem, according to local sources.

They said that the occupying forces rounded up a woman and a minor from the vicinity of Jafa Gate (Bab al-Khalil).

In the predawn and morning hours of Monday, the occupying forces conducted multiple raids across the occupied West Bank, resulting in the detention of 28 Palestinians.

In the Jericho governorate, the gun-toting soldiers rounded up a father and his 17-year-old son from the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp, as confirmed by Eid Barahmeh, an officer in the Palestine Prisoners’ Society.

The sources confirmed a similar raid in Qalqilya City, resulting in the detention of three Palestinians.

In the Ramallah governorate, the heavily armed soldiers rounded up three others, including a father along with his son, from the village of Budrus.

They conducted a similar raid in the town of Birzeit, north of Ramallah, where they detained five Palestinians, namely a former prisoner, three of his brothers, and a nephew, and ransacked their houses, wreaking havoc inside.

The sources confirmed two separate raids in the town of Abu Qash and Beitunia city, north and west of Ramallah, resulting in the detention of three others, including a 16-year-old teen.

In Bethlehem, soldiers showed up at a house in the as-Saff neighborhood, conducted a thorough search, and rounded up an occupant.

Meanwhile, the soldiers rounded up four Palestinians from various neighborhoods of Hebron City.

They barged their way into Bani Naim town, east of Hebron, where they searched several houses and detained three occupants.

A convoy of army vehicles stormed the towns of Taffuh and Beit Awwa, west and southwest of Hebron, where the soldiers detained four others, including two brothers.

While inside some of the houses, the soldiers brutally beat some occupants before detaining them.

The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
