RAMALLAH, June 23, 2025 (WAFA) – Colombian President Gustavo Petro has warned that current instability in the Middle East could escalate into a third world war, blaming the crisis on Israel’s bombardment of Palestinian children in Gaza.

In a post on X, President Petro shared a video of pro-Palestine protests in Berlin, where demonstrators condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Petro directly criticized Netanyahu and urged immediate de-escalation.

“It all started with the bombing of Palestinian children and the genocide in Gaza,” Petro wrote. “Now, we are on the brink of a world war.”

He added:

“The starting point for a solution is for Netanyahu to stop bombing Palestine, declare a ceasefire, and stop endangering all of humanity.”
