RAMALLAH, March 22, 2004 (WAFA)- President Yasser Arafat, Palestinian Leadership, PLO Executive Committee and representatives of National and Islamic Organizations strongly condemned Monday the Israeli brutal crime of assassinating Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, in Gaza City.... In a statement, issued Monday, the Leadership said that this atrocious crime is unprecedented and exceeds all red lines, stressing that security and stability can not prevail until the termination of the Israeli Occupation and the establishment of the Independent Palestinian State.... The Palestinian people will continue resisting the Israeli construction of the Annexation and Expansion (Apartheid) Wall, in the Palestinian Occupied Territories, the statement said.... On its part, the Palestinian government strongly condemned the "Israeli terror" that killed Sheikh Yassin and other civilians.... It is a dangerous turn point of the Israeli series of aggression against our people and" its political leaderships," the government said, “the crime opens the door wide to chaos".... The assassination of Sheikh Yassin reflects the Israeli intention to kill any glim of hope for peace and involves the region into a spiral of hatred and violence, the government added.... It also called on the UN, Quartet and the US Administration to immediately intervene to end the Israeli liquidation of the Palestinian people and to provide international protection to the Palestinian people....
