Lebanese President Aoun receives President Abbas’ Special Representative in Beirut

BEIRUT, June 8, 2026 (WAFA) – Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun received on Monday President Mahmoud Abbas’ Special Representative, Yasser Abbas, and the State of Palestine’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Al-Asaad.

During the meeting, Abbas conveyed President Mahmoud Abbas’ greetings to President Aoun, reaffirming the State of Palestine's commitment towards full cooperation with the Lebanese state and support for Lebanon's security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and Palestine's keenness to further strengthen bilateral Palestinian-Lebanese relations.

They discussed the means of enhancing cooperation and coordination on issues of mutual concern.

Abbas reiterated the Palestinian leadership’s unwavering commitment to implementing the agreements reached by President Abbas and his Lebanese counterpart Aoun during their summit last year, particularly regarding the Palestinian refugees’ humanitarian and livelihood conditions, as well as the plan for the handover of Palestinian weapons pursuant to the agreed mechanisms and in line with the principle of extending Lebanon’s sovereignty over its entire territory.
