Christmas tourism unprecedented, says official

 

RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 20, 2018 (WAFA) – Tourism this Christmas season is unprecedented with hotels reporting 100 percent occupancy, Jiries Qumsieh, spokesman for the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, said on Thursday.

He told Voice of Palestine radio that Palestine is witnessing an active and unprecedented tourism season for Christmas this year.

“Tourism is very active and the occupancy rate of hotels is 100 percent in all governorates, but especially in Bethlehem," said Qumsieh.

Minister of Tourism Rola Ma‘aya‘a said in an earlier interview that the number of tourists who visit Palestine, particularly Bethlehem, birth place of Jesus Christ, is expected to reach 2.8 million by year end, the highest in recent years..

The spokesman of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said that the ministry has prepared a series of programs and activities for Christmas celebrations, including hosting international groups to sing Christmas carols, in addition to assuring safety for all pilgrims visiting Palestine.
