RAMALLAH, June 16, 2025 (WAFA) - The State of Palestine reaffirmed its commitment to the joint statement issued on May 21, 2025, following the summit between President Mahmoud Abbas and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. The statement underscored Lebanon’s sovereignty, the state’s authority over all its territories, the principle of limiting weapons to the hands of the government and the need to eliminate any manifestations that fall outside the authority and sovereignty of the state.
The State of Palestine underscored its ongoing commitment to working in close coordination with all Lebanese authorities to advance the implementation of the joint statement issued at the summit.
It further reaffirmed its commitment to actively engage with the situation in Palestinian refugee camps to enhance humanitarian and living conditions and safeguard the civil, economic, and social rights of Palestinian refugees, including the right to property ownership, all in full respect for Lebanese sovereignty and applicable national laws.
In view of the prevailing regional circumstances, a technical postponement has been decided concerning the collection of weapons within the camps. The Palestinian security and military forces, in full coordination with their Lebanese counterparts and in accordance with existing agreements, will move forward with implementation once conditions are conducive and the necessary preparations are in place.
