Israel issues and renews administrative detention orders against 81 Palestinian detainees

RAMALLAH, June 17, 2025 (WAFA) – The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PRCS) stated in a joint release on Tuesday that Israeli occupation authorities issued and renewed administrative detention orders against 81 Palestinian detainees.

According to the statement, Israel continues to escalate its use of administrative detention, a policy that allows detention without charge or trial, under the pretext of a so-called “secret file.” Over the past week alone, more than 350 such orders were issued, the statement noted.

Administrative detainees now constitute the largest proportion compared to sentenced and pretrial prisoners, with their numbers having surged to an unprecedented 3,562 since the onset of the ongoing genocide.

The statement also indicated that some of the detainees had received what are referred to as "final” administrative detention orders. However, under the declared state of emergency, these orders have been extended by an additional 15 days, with the possibility of further renewal should the emergency status continue.
