RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 20, 2018 (WAFA) – An Israeli military court rejected on Wednesday an appeal by an attorney representing the mother and brother of a slain Palestinian to release them on bail, according to the Prisoners Commission.
It said in a statement on Thursday that the Israeli military prosecutor did not agree for the release of Wafaa Mehdawi, mother of Ashraf Naalweh, who was shot dead by Israeli forces in Nablus on December 13 following two months chase for killing two Israeli settlers in the West Bank, and Amjad Naalweh, Ashraf’s brother.
The two were detained two months ago to force Ashraf to turn himself in and have been kept in prison without any real charges, said the commission, whose attorney said he will appeal the military court’s ruling to another court in Ofer military camp near Ramallah for their immediate release because the charge list was not based on facts, rather it was drawn as a reaction.
The army demolished the Naalweh residence in Tulkarm on Monday in another collective punishment step against the entire family.
