ISRAEL, June 19, 2018 (WAFA) - The Central District Court in Lod, Israel, ruled Monday that the confessions extracted by means of painful physical pressure from the main defendant in the 2015 arson murder of three members of the Palestinian Dawabsheh family, and another minor involved in the affair were not admissible.
Regarding Amiram Ben-Uliel, the court ruled to accept some of the confessions in the murder. It rejected confessions made under the Shin Bet interrogation as inadmissible, but opted to accept the confessions made further down the line in the investigation, said Haaretz.
Regarding the minor, the court accepts his confessions regarding his involvement in the murders, but rejected all confessions he made during the Shin Bet interrogation, said Haartez.
According to the Israeli daily, the proceeding was conducted behind closed doors mainly because of the Shin Bet security service interrogation and the fear of revealing the organization’s interrogation methods.
“The Justice Ministry has additional evidence, including details that could only be known to someone who was at the crime scene. However, rejecting the testimony will means that most of the evidence would be circumstantial, greatly weakening the case,” stated the Israeli daily.
in July 3st 2015 in the village of Duma, in Nablus, settlers set fire to the home of the Dawabsheh family, which resulted in the loss of life of three of the family members; 18-month-old Ali Dawabsheh was burned alive in the fire, while both his parents died from their injuries within weeks.
