Gaza death toll rises to 73,399, injuries to 174,310 since October 2023
GAZA, August 17, 2026 (WAFA) — The death toll from Israel's war on the Gaza Strip has risen to 73,399, while the number of injured has reached 174,310 since October 7, 2023, according to medical sources.
The sources said Gaza hospitals received five fatalities over the past 48 hours, including two newly reported deaths and three bodies recovered from under the rubble, as well as 18 injured people.
They added that the number of Palestinians killed since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025, has risen to 1,265, while the number of injured reached 4,198 and the number of bodies recovered from under the rubble stood at 813.
The sources noted that a number of victims remain trapped under the rubble and on the roads, amid the inability of ambulance and rescue teams to reach them.
