JERUSALEM, August 17, 2026 (WAFA) — The Jerusalem Governorate today warned that dozens of homes in the town of Qalandia are at risk of demolition amid Israeli occupation plans and measures targeting the area for settlement projects and the seizure of additional land.
In a statement, the governorate said the demolition of homes under the pretext of lacking building permits, along with settlement plans and land seizures, forms part of a systematic policy aimed at reshaping the geographic and demographic reality around Jerusalem and threatening the Palestinian presence.
Earlier today, Israeli occupation forces demolished a two-story residential building in Qalandia, north of occupied Jerusalem, which had been standing for about six years and belonged to Palestinian resident Dhib Hamad and his son. The demolition, carried out under the pretext of construction without a permit, displaced around 15 Palestinians who had been living in the building.
The demolition comes as part of an ongoing campaign targeting Qalandia, where Israeli occupation measures have intensified, aimed at restricting residents, seizing their land and imposing new realities on the ground.
