RAMALLAH, Aug. 17, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists on Monday evening tore up the landscape for the construction of a colonist-only road in Deir Ammar town, west of Ramallah, according to local sources.
They reported that colonists escorted bulldozers to the al-Wajh al-Gharbi and al-Misha areas of the town and began leveling Palestinian inhabitants’ lands for the construction of a new road, raising concerns that the move is linked to the expansion of nearby outposts.
Photos circulated online showed the bulldozing as well as colonists breaking into a house under construction in the al-Wajh al-Gharbi area and raising the Israeli occupation flag at the site.
Meanwhile, colonists attacked the outskirts of al-Mazra'a al-Sharqiya town, northeast of Ramallah, prompting youths to confront them and triggering clashes.
The attacks come amid escalating colonial settlement activity and attacks against Palestinians and their lands in the eastern and western parts of the Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate, including the establishment and expansion of colonist outposts, the opening of roads, land leveling, and attacks on property.
Colonists have set up a herding outpost on lands belonging to al-Mazra'a al-Sharqiya, as colonial settlement expansion in the area intensifies, accompanied by repeated attacks against inhabitants and their property.
Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.
Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
Israel uses the Jewish nationalist name “Judea and Samaria” to refer to the occupied West Bank to reinforce its bogus claims to the territory and to give them a veneer of historical and religious legitimacy.
