Israeli forces detain two Palestinians after settlers detain them northeast of Jenin

JENIN, August 17, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces today detained two Palestinians from the village of Faqqua, northeast of Jenin, after armed settlers detained them while they were harvesting prickly pear fruit on their land near a newly established settlement outpost in the area.

Faqqua village council head Barakat al-Omari told WAFA that two farmers and a child were on their land harvesting prickly pears when two armed settlers from the newly established outpost approached them and detained them until Israeli occupation forces arrived.

He said the occupation forces subsequently detained the two farmers, Munir Mahmoud Sidqi Salah, 44, and Ahmad Abdullah Zidan, 75, while releasing the child and leaving him to return home on foot.

Al-Omari said the occupation forces took the two farmers to an unknown location, where they remain detained, with their whereabouts and the reasons for their detention still unknown.
