Israeli Forces Detain Nine Palestinians in West Bank

HEBRON, February 16, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces overnight Tuesday detained nine Palestinians and summoned another during predawn raids into a number of West Bank districts, said security sources.

Forces detained two Palestinians after breaking into and ransacking their family homes in the Hebron city neighborhood of al-Muhawil. The detainees were identified as Muhammad al-Ja’bari, and his brother, Idris.

Forces also detained Taha Ash-Sharif and Hashem al-Atrash, both 19, from Hebron’s Old City.

Meanwhile in Bethlehem district, forces raided Beit Fajjar town, south of the city, where they detained Hani Taqatqa, 39, and Qusai Thawabteh, 22, after storming and ransacking their family houses.

During the raid, forces handed Hani’s brother, Mahmoud, 19, a notice to appear before the Israeli intelligence in the nearby Gush Etzion interrogation center.

In the northern West Bank, forces detained ‘Abbud Hammad, 15, during a predawn raid into al-‘Araqa village, west of Jenin.

Another Palestinian identified as Ammar Hammur, 28, was detained after storming and wrecking havoc into his family house in Jaba‘ town.

The detentions in al-‘Araqa came a day after Israeli forces blockaded the village and declared it a closed military zone.

Large Israeli troops blocked off all entrances to the northern West Bank village with earth mounds, preventing families from leaving and entering as large troops were deployed in and around the village.

The blockade came two days after two15-year-old Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli forces near the village after the teens allegedly opened fire on soldiers.

In the northern West Bank city of Qalqiliya, forces stormed several houses and detained a Palestinian during a raid into the city. The detainee was identified as Adeeb Ghalban.
