BETHLEHEM, May 30, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Saturday detained
five people, including three international activists, from West Bank districts,
as well as summoned a Palestinian for interrogation, said a local Palestinian
activist and security sources.
Israeli forces suppressed a sit-in protest organized by Palestinian
and international activists against Israeli settlers’ attempts to take over a
church compound, known as al-Baraka House compound near the Palestinian refugee
camp of al-Arrub between Hebron and Bethlehem.
Forces cordoned off the area and proceeded to fire tear gas
canisters and stun grenades at participant activists, causing many to suffer
from excessive tear gas inhalation. Forces further physically attacked
protesters with the butts of their rifles, causing many to suffer from bruises
and injuries throughout their bodies.
They detained four anti-settlement activists; including a
Palestinian activist identified as Yousef Abu Maria and three other
international activists.
Meanwhile in Hebron district, forces raided Beit Kahel town to the
northwest of the city, where they arrested a Palestinian after breaking into
and ransacking his home.
He was identified as Muhammad al-Zarou, 19.
Meanwhile in Bethlehem, forces raided al-‘Azza refugee camp to the
north of the city, where they summoned a Palestinian.
Akram al-Barbari was handed a notice ordering him to appear before
Israeli intelligence in the Israeli settlement bloc of ‘Gush Etzion’ to the
south of the city.
