JENIN, May 26, 2015 (WAFA) – Several Palestinians, including
children, suffocated early Tuesday as Israeli forces stormed Jaba‘ town to the
south of Jenin, said local security sources.
Israeli forces stormed early morning Jaba‘ town amid firing tear
gas canisters, stun grenades, and live ammunition toward resident's homes,
which caused many residents to suffocate due to tear gas inhalation and sparked
clashes with provoked residents.
During the extensive raid operation, forces broke into and
ransacked many homes, interrogating their residents. They raided the homes of
Muhammad al-Shunnar, Muhammad Kan‘an and Muhammad Malaysha. However, no arrests
were made.
Israeli forces regularly attack Palestinian homes and
properties; wreaking havoc, confiscating personal belongings, and arresting
residents.
An increasing number of unarmed and peaceful Palestinians were
either killed or seriously injured as a result of Israel’s constant use of tear
gas against Palestinians.
B'Tselem, the Israeli human rights information center, stated
that “[Israeli] soldiers and Border Police often fire tear-gas grenades
directly at demonstrators with the aim of hitting them, or fire carelessly,
without ensuring that demonstrators are not in the direct line of fire, in
direct contravention of regulations.”
The legal center, in a summary report published in 2013, demanded
that Israeli security forces “completely prohibit the firing of 40mm tear-gas
canisters either directly at individuals or horizontally, in a way that could
cause result in injuries.”
