RAMALLAH, May 23, 2015 (WAFA) –
President Mahmoud Abbas Saturday offered his condolences to king of Saudi
Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz, following the ‘terror’ attack that targeted a
mosque in al-Qudaih area, leaving a number of worshipers killed and injured.
On Friday, a suicide bomber
detonated an explosive belt in Shia mosque in eastern Saudi Arabia during Friday
prayers, killing at least 20 worshipers and injuring many others, including
some seriously.
Abbas, in the strongest terms
possible, condemned the attack on the mosque, describing it as “a cowardly
terror act’.
Abbas expressed the Palestinian
sides’ solidarity with Saudia Arabia, affirming Palestine’s’ rejection of
terrorism in all its forms.
Abbas further expressed his and
the Palestinian people’s solidarity with the families of the victims, as well
as with the people and government of Saudi Arabia, and hoped a speedy recovery
for the wounded.
The Islamic State of Iraq and the
Levant (ISIL) had claimed responsibility for the attack, reported media
sources.
