CARACAS, July 20, 2014 (WAFA) – The government
of Venezuela, in a statement Sunday, stressed its firm support for the
Palestinian people and its strong condemnation over the Israeli ‘criminal
aggression’ on Gaza.
“Israel's latest attacks on Gaza have initiated
a higher phase of its policy of genocide and extermination with the ground
invasion of Palestinian territory, killing innocent men, women, girls and
boys,” said the statement
“The pain we feel over the killings in Gaza by
the Israeli political military government as a result of its impunity makes us
stronger and compels us to demand the immediate cessation of these criminal
attacks,” it said.
It stressed that it “rejects the cynical
campaigns trying to condemn both parties equally, when it is clear you cannot
morally compare occupied and massacred Palestine with the occupying state,
Israel, which also possesses military superiority and acts on the margins of
international law.”
President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela demanded
an emergency meeting of the UN Human Rights Council to address and put an end
to Israel’s blatant, large scale and systematic human rights violations in
Gaza.
The statement added that, “we are
convinced that the current situation will not deter the heroic Palestinian
people nor will it stop their struggle towards national sovereignty and human
dignity.”
