FM Aghabekian meets Indian Prime Minister in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, January 31, 2026 (WAFA) – Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Aghabekian met today with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the third day of her official visit to the Republic of India, during which she is participating in the second session of the Arab-Indian ministerial meeting held in New Delhi on 30 and 31 January.

During the meeting, Aghabekian stressed the State of Palestine's keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with India and briefed the Indian Prime Minister on political and humanitarian developments in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, particularly in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing aggression and worsening humanitarian conditions.

She expressed Palestine's appreciation for India's supportive positions on the Palestinian cause, especially at the United Nations and the Human Rights Council, and praised India's continued humanitarian, economic, and development assistance to the Palestinian people.

Prime Minister Modi affirmed that India remains steadfast in its support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people, underscoring India’s commitment to international law and relevant international resolutions, and its intention to continue supporting humanitarian and development efforts in Palestine.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Aghabekian expressed her hope that Prime Minister Modi would visit the State of Palestine in the near future, reflecting the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries and their peoples.
