RAMALLAH, January 2, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa received on Friday a phone call from Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares. The two discussed the latest developments in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need to intensify international efforts to stop Israeli occupation attacks and settler violence, as well as the release of Palestinian funds held by the Israeli authorities.
Mustafa and Albares also affirmed the importance of continuing efforts for the reconstruction of Gaza and the significant role of Europe in this regard.
Both sides reiterated the importance of unifying the State of Palestine's institutions in Gaza with those in the West Bank, aiming to realize the Palestinian state as outlined in various international resolutions, including the most recent New York Declaration.
The two sides also discussed areas of joint coordination and the strengthening of Spain's political, diplomatic, and financial support for Palestine. The Prime Minister thanked Spain for its ongoing support. In this context, Palestinian Minister of Finance and Planning, Estephan Salameh, is set to visit Spain in mid-January to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of development and reconstruction.
