PM Mustafa and Belgian Foreign Minister discuss Gaza ceasefire and West Bank escalation

RAMALLAH, October 24, 2025 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa held a phone call today with Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot to discuss the latest developments in Palestine, particularly the progress of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and the escalating situation in the West Bank amid continued attacks by Israeli forces and settlers.

Mustafa condemned the Israeli Knesset’s vote to impose sovereignty over settlements in the West Bank, describing the move as a blatant violation of international law that threatens the two-state solution and undermines prospects for peace.

He urged stronger international action, especially from the European Union, to stop Israeli measures targeting the Palestinian people and to restore the transfer of Palestinian tax revenues withheld by Israel.

The Prime Minister praised Belgium’s recognition of the State of Palestine as a significant step supporting the two-state solution, and expressed appreciation for the political and humanitarian assistance Belgium continues to provide.

Prévot reaffirmed his country’s commitment to stabilizing the ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of aid to meet urgent needs, and advancing efforts for recovery and reconstruction.

He emphasized Belgium’s support for a political path that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and brings peace and stability to the region.
