LJUBLJANA, August 25, 2025 (WAFA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Varsen Aghabekian met on Monday with her Slovenian counterpart Tanja Fajon in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana.
This meeting is part of the Palestinian diplomatic efforts to stop the war of extermination against the Palestinian people and to strengthen bilateral relations with the Republic of Slovenia.
During the meeting, Minister Shaheen conveyed a message of thanks and appreciation from the Palestinian people and their leadership for Slovenia's brave decision to recognize the State of Palestine and for its support in international and European forums.
Minister Aghabekian also expressed her gratitude for the humanitarian aid provided by Slovenia, especially its continuous support for the UNRWA agency.
She emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and affirmed that the Palestinian people seek peace and the establishment of a democratic state capable of recovery in the post-war phase in Gaza.
The top Palestinian diplomat also highlighted the danger of the continued withholding of Palestinian clearance funds, considering it an obstacle to reform efforts that weakens national institutions and undermines the work of the Palestinian government.
For her part, minister Fajon welcomed the visit and affirmed her country's commitment to supporting Palestine and its people, and to working with European and international partners to end the war, stop the massacres against children, and prevent the humanitarian catastrophe from worsening, with the goal of achieving a just peace in the region.
At the end of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of working together to end the war, facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and the necessity of imposing international pressure and punitive measures on Israel in light of the continued violations by colonizers.
