RAMALLAH, August 3, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday morning by far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and several Knesset members.
In a statement, the ministry described the move as a blatant provocation to the sentiments of Muslims worldwide, not just in Palestine.
The ministry warned that Islamic holy sites are increasingly exposed to daily violations by settler groups operating under the protection of the far-right Israeli government, which it said is systematically working to assert control over both Islamic and Christian religious sites.
“What the occupation is doing inside Al-Aqsa Mosque through its political officials is a direct violation of its sanctity and the exclusive religious rights of Muslims,” the statement read. “No one else has the right to perform rituals there, and this demands serious, forceful action to stop these violations.”
The ministry called on international human rights and religious organizations to take action to curb Israel’s ongoing violations, especially under the racist far-right government that has given Ben-Gvir and his supporters the green light to desecrate the holy site.
