RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 23, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday overnight detained 14 Palestinians and shot another in multiple raids across the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

They said that Israeli forces rounded up two brothers after breaking into their family house in Burqa town, north of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

They also rounded up two others after ransacking their family houses in the nearby town of Asira ash-Shamaliya.

In Salfit district, a sizable military force conducted a predawn raid in Qarawat Bani Hassan town, northwest of the city, where they detained three others.

Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, soldiers manning the ‘Anabta checkpoint, also known as 'Einav, east of Tulkarm city, stopped and detained another as he attempted to cross the intermittently staffed checkpoint. The detainee was identified as a resident of Tulkarm refugee camp.

In Jenin district, the sources confirmed a raid in Silat al-Harithiya town, west of the city, resulting in the detention of three others.

During the raid, the soldiers forcibly entered a prisoner’s family house and wrecked havoc inside.

In Tubas district, gun-toting soldiers rounded up another from Tammun town, south of the city.

In the southern West Bank, Israeli troops barged their way into Dheisha refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, where they detained two others.

During ensuing confrontations, snipers occupied the rooftop of a local cultural center and targeted a protestor by live ammunition, hitting him in his feet.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
