JERUSALEM, September 21, 2026 (WAFA) — A total of 458 Israeli colonists stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Monday morning through the Moroccan Gate, under heavy protection from Israeli forces.
Hundreds of colonists, led by far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, also stormed the mosque compound on Sunday under heavy security and performed Talmudic rituals in its eastern area.
The Jerusalem Governorate said Israeli forces were imposing a widespread media blackout on developments inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on the second day of the Jewish Yom Kippur holiday.
It added that the Israeli authorities had restricted transportation and work in Jerusalem, imposed a comprehensive closure on institutions and businesses, and placed restrictions on movement, citing the Jewish holiday.
