SALFIT, September 21, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces today raided the city of Salfit and the towns of Bruqin and Kafr al-Dik, in the central West Bank, and detained five Palestinians.
Local sources told WAFA that Israeli forces detained brothers Qassam and Yousef Mahmoud al-Bir, as well as Mahmoud Amin Awad and his father, Amin Awad, after raiding their homes in Salfit city.
In Kafr al-Dik, Israeli forces raided several neighborhoods and stormed the home of Bassam al-Shak'a, detaining him and taking him to an undisclosed location.
The raids came as the Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) said systematic field interrogations carried out by Israeli forces across the occupied West Bank are continuing and intensifying, becoming one of the main tools used during raids and incursions.
According to the PPS, Israeli forces have conducted field interrogations of more than 100 Palestinians over the past two days, particularly in al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, and Biddu, northwest of occupied Jerusalem. The majority of those interrogated were subsequently released, while the military offensive in Biddu remains ongoing.
In Biddu, Israeli forces have continued raiding and searching homes and detaining and interrogating residents in the field. The PPS said the forces established an interrogation and detention center inside a seized home, where dozens of young men have been held amid vandalism, physical assaults, and the use of restraints and blindfolds on some residents.
The society said field interrogations have been accompanied by physical abuse, destruction of household property, threats and intimidation, and the confiscation of money, personal belongings and electronic devices, particularly mobile phones, whose contents are searched and, according to the PPS, used as a means of pressure.
The practices also include holding Palestinians for hours under harsh conditions, converting homes into military posts and barracks, and using civilians as hostages and human shields. The PPS said Israeli forces have also distributed leaflets containing direct threats.
