RAMALLAH,
Thursday, November 25, 2021 (WAFA) – A Palestinian sustained injuries and
others suffocated from military gunfire as Israeli forces raided Silwad town, north of the city of Ramallah, according to
local sources.
They
confirmed that Israeli forces barged their way into the central West Bank town,
where they forcibly entered the family house of a former prisoner and brutally
assaulted him, inflicting moderate wounds across his body.
The
soldiers also showed up at three other houses, including the family houses of
two prisoners, went inside and thoroughly searched them, turning them upside
down.
The
raid triggered confrontations during which the soldiers opened fire towards
local youths who attempted to block their passage, causing a number to suffocate
from tear gas.
The
sources confirmed similar raids in Deir Abu Masha‘al, Kobar and Saffa villages, west and northwest of the city. Neither
injuries nor detentions were reported though.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
