Israeli forces detain seven Palestinians, injure another across West Bank

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, November 03, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday overnight detained at least seven Palestinians and injured another across the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

They said that Israeli forces rounded up two Palestinians after storming their dormitory in Birzeit town, north of Ramallah city.

The detainees, both coming from al-Arroud refugee camp, north of Hebron, are students enrolled in Birzeit University.

The soldiers re-arrested a former prisoner after ransacking his house in Umm Ash-Sharayet neighborhood of al-Bireh city.

In Jerusalem district, Israeli troops barged their way into Kafr Aqab town, north of the city, where they detained another.

In the southern West Bank, the sources confirmed a similar predawn raid in Yatta town, south of Hebron, resulting in the detention of a father along with his son.

Still in Hebron district, the soldiers Tuesday evening opened live fire at a young man and injured him before detaining him near ad-Dhahiriya city, southwest of Hebron.

In the northern West Bank, a resident of Tammun town, south of Tubas, was rounded up while he was working in al-Jiftlik village, north of Jericho, as confirmed by the Director of the Palestine Prisoner’s Society Office, Kamal Bani-Odeh.

Still in the northern section of the West Bank, Israeli troops re-arrested Qaisar Infeiat, a resident of Ya‘bad town, west of Jenin, after stopping him at a flying checkpoint in the town.

Qaisar is the brother of Munadel Yacoub Infeiat, 26, one of the six Palestinian prisoners who managed to escape from Gilboa Prison in early September through a tunnel in what was described as the most dramatic and unprecedented prison break.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
