RAMALLAH, Monday, October 11, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday overnight detained 14 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources.
They said Israeli forces ransacked a number of houses and rounded up five Palestinians from Beita town, a scene of weekly protests against decades of Israeli settler-colonialism and apartheid, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.
The soldiers re-arrested a resident of Kafr Qallil town, south of Nablus, after stopping him at a checkpoint on the way leading to Jericho.
In the southern West Bank, Israeli military vehicles stormed al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem, where soldiers detained five others, including a former prisoner and a 16-year-old teen.
The soldiers re-arrested another Palestinian after breaking into and searching his house in Umm Salamuna village, southwest of Bethlehem.
In Hebron district, soldiers barged their way into Yatta town, south of the city, and detained two others.
On Sunday evening, Israeli police rounded up two Palestinians from the East Jerusalem area of al-Musrara.
They also detained a boy after brutally assaulting him in the surveillance room at Bab al-Amoud, also known as Damascus Gate.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
