NABLUS, Wednesday, July 28, 2021 (WAFA) – Over 100 Palestinians were injured as Israeli forces quelled protests denouncing the killing of a municipal employee in Beita town, south of Nablus, according to medical sources.
Ahmad Jibril, the head of the Emergency and Ambulance Department at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), said that Israeli forces opened fire towards the villagers who protested the killing of Shadi Omar Lotfi Salim, hitting one with a live round, 19 others with rubber-coated steel bullets and causing 72 others to suffocate from tear gas. Still, 14 others sustained injuries due to falling from high places after being chased by the soldiers and due to beating.
He added that PRCS provided treatment to the casualties at Jabal Sabih and the town entrance. Three casualties were rushed to hospitals for urgent treatment.
Salim, a municipal water technician, went to open the water main supplying water to the town before being gunned down on Tuesday night.
