RAMALLAH, April 7, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 2,672 new Covid-19 cases and 18 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.
She announced that 2,672 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 18 others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 2,672 cases, 756 cases were recorded in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 1,916 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Jenin district was ranked the first with (200) cases, followed by Nablus (153) cases, Ramallah & al-Bireh district (98) cases, Hebron (91) cases, Tulkarm (87) cases, Tubas (41) cases, Qalqiliya (36) cases, Bethlehem (31) cases, Jerusalem suburbs (9) cases, Salfit (6) cases in addition to Jericho & the Jordan Valley (4) cases.
Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as 12 deaths from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and six others from the besieged Gaza Strip.
In terms of the number of deaths, Hebron district was ranked the first among the West Bank districts with 4 deaths, followed by Tulkarm (3 deaths), Jenin (2 deaths) in addition to Qalqiliya, Nablus and Ramallah & al-Bireh, each district of which recorded one death.
She added that 1,538 Covid-19 patients recovered; 1,023 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem district, and 515 others in the Gaza Strip.
She pointed that 203 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 65 who are connected to ventilators, while 578 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.
Recoveries account for 88.3 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 10.7 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.0 percent.
Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 120,772 people have received the vaccine so far, including 11,620 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
