AMMAN, Sunday, January 17, 2021 (WAFA) – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned today the Israeli authorities' announcement to build 780 new settlement units in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
In a statement, the ministry's spokesman Dhaifallah Ali Al-Fayez also denounced legalizing two settlement outposts erected on Palestinian lands.
This step is a flagrant and grave breach of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, mainly the UN Security Council Resolution 2334, he said.
Al-Fayez said Jordan rejects and condemns illegal settlement policy, whether building or expanding settlements, seizing lands and displacing Palestinians.
He stressed that this Israeli decision violates international law and undermines the foundations of peace, and efforts exerted to resolve the conflict and to achieve a comprehensive and just peace, as well as undermines the chances of a two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions.
Al-Fayez called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities by pressuring Israel to stop its settlement policy.
