President Abbas to Call on All Palestinian Factions to Discuss Gaza Crisis

RAMALLAH, December 29, 2008 (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas said that he will call all Palestinian factions, including Hamas, to discuss the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.

 

At a Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, held in the West Bank City of Ramallah, the President stressed the need of national unity, affirming that all Palestinians must be united to stop the aggression against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

 

'It is a real serious situation in Gaza,' said President Abbas who strongly condemned the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

 

President Abbas also demanded the international community to press Israel to halt its ongoing aggression against the besieged Strip, which has left more than 345 Palestinian citizens, including 30 children dead.

 

He said that the Palestinian leadership is doing the utmost of its efforts to send humanitarian aid to Gaza, adding that the Palestinians in Gaza are in urgent need of such assistance. He called on the world to provide this assistance to the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip.
