Killings in Gaza, Injuries and Arrests in West Bank

WEST BANK, December 29, 2008 (WAFA)- As Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) are launching the bloodies military campaign on the Gaza Strip since its occupation in 1967, sixty-eight Palestinians were injured in the West Bank in confrontations with Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem and Hebron, while 10 others were arrested from different cities in the West Bank.

 

For the third day in a row, confrontations between protesting Palestinians and Occupation soldiers have escalated in the surroundings of Jerusalem. Israeli soldiers opened fire at the protesters injuring 50 of them; injuries vary from moderate to critical.

 

Similar confrontations in Hebron resulted in 18 injuries, 6 of whom were hit by live bullets.

 

In a separate context, IOF arrested 4 Palestinians from Madama village near Nablus, north of the West Bank, after surrounding and searching their houses.

 

Israeli troops also attacked the Hebronite town of Beit Ummar, vandalized houses and arrested two young Palestinians.

 

In Bil'in village, near Ramallah, Israeli units arrested four Palestinians and took them to an unknown destination.

 

These assaults have taken place while Israeli warplanes have been shelling the Gaza Strip, massacring 345 Palestinians including 30 children, and injuring 1650 including 150 children.
