Ereikat: President Asks Israeli PM to Agree to Egyptian Efforts to Install Calm in Gaza Strip

RAMALLAH, April 13, 2008, (WAFA)-Head of PLO Negotiation Department Affairs  Saeb Ereikat said on Sunday that President Mahmoud Abbas asked Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to agree to Egyptian efforts to fix a state of calm in the Gaza Strip. 
 
In a press conference held in Ramallah, Ereikat told reporters that President Abbas has been exerting every effort to prevent the impending disaster in the Gaza Strip.
 

He pointed out that he met with Egyptian officials yesterday and asked them to intervene to reach a comprehensive calm aims to protect the Gaza Strip from any possible Israeli aggression, adding that the Egyptians showed a significant response in this issue.

 

Ereikat said that President Abbas and the Israeli Prime Minister discussed developments including negotiations on issues of final status as well as the implementation of the first plan of the Road Map.
