RAMALLAH, Friday, May 22, 2020 (WAFA) - The heat wave is set to subside today, causing temperature to plummet and approach around 6°C above the seasonal average and paving the way to mainly hot conditions in daytime and partly cloudy and relatively hot to pleasant conditions in nighttime, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly wind blows in daytime, while moderate to active northwesterly wind blows in nighttime. Sea waves are low to medium.
PMD still warns people against exposure to the sun for long period, particularly from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and setting fire to dry grassy areas.
Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 31°C and a low of 17°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 30°C and a low of 16°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 40°C and a low of 24°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 30°C and a low of 21°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
Saturday’s temperature is set to further significantly drop, paving the way to mild to warm conditions in daytime and mild to relatively cold conditions, especially in mountainous districts, in nighttime.
Sunday’s temperature is set to further significantly drop and approach around 5°C below the seasonal average, paving the way relatively cold conditions, particularly in mountains, in daytime and cold to relatively cold conditions in nighttime.
A chance of scattered light rainfall along with occasional thunderstorms is expected on various districts.
PMD expects a slight rise in temperature on Monday, with partly cloudy and relatively cold conditions, especially in mountainous districts. A chance of scattered light rainfall is expected on some districts.
