Palestine calls for emergency Arab League meeting over Israeli violations in Jerusalem

RAMALLAH, March 31, 2026 (WAFA) – The State of Palestine has submitted an urgent request to convene an extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent representatives, to address Israeli crimes and violations in occupied Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, in addition to the so-called "Israeli Knesset's" passage of a racist law concerning the execution of Palestinian prisoners.

The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, said in a press release to WAFA that the request for the meeting comes in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, particularly the systematic violations in Jerusalem.

He also highlighted restrictions on freedom of worship at holy sites, including the continued closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque for more than 30 days and restrictions on access to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for religious observances.

Ambassador Al-Aklouk emphasized that the "Israeli Knesset's" passage of this racist law constitutes a new escalation in Israeli violations of Palestinian rights and international law, calling on Arab states to convene to discuss ways to confront this brutal aggression in all its forms and manifestations.
