Premier condemns Israeli demolition in Wadi al-Hummus

RAMALLAH, Monday, July 22, 2019 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh said today that the Israeli demolition of the buildings in Sur Baher’s Wadi al-Hummus area is a violation of international and humanitarian law.

Speaking at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting in Ramallah, Shtayyeh condemned the demolitions in the East Jerusalem neighborhood calling on the international community and institutions to put a stop to the Israeli forced displacement of Palestinian civilians.

“Most of the demolished and threatened buildings fall within the areas designated "A" and "B", and by doing this the occupying power has canceled this Israeli classification of our Palestinian areas after creating facts on the ground that go against international law and agreements,” he said.

“President Mahmoud Abbas has instructed Foreign Minister Riyad Malki to add this criminal act to the file we had submitted to the International Criminal Court,” added the Prime Minister.
