GAZA, September 23, 2026 (WAFA) — The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip held in Israel’s Negev prison are enduring harsh detention conditions marked by repeated assaults and denial of medical care and basic necessities, according to testimonies documented by a commission lawyer during his latest visit.

The commission said the testimonies revealed significant weight loss among a number of detainees, along with ongoing illnesses and pain. Several detainees had also submitted requests for medical treatment that went unanswered, further worsening their health conditions.

The detainees also reported repeated raids, repression, beatings, and verbal abuse, as well as shortages of clothing and hygiene supplies and restrictions on access to basic daily necessities, the commission said.

It added that the harsh detention conditions and accompanying practices are taking a severe psychological toll on the detainees.
