WASHINGTON, September 23, 2026 (WAFA) – Four US Democratic senators—Chris Coons, Elizabeth Warren, Ron Wyden, and Ruben Gallego—introduced a bill today that would impose sanctions on companies, individuals, and foreign entities involved in implementing the Israeli E1 colonial project. The measure is supported by at least 10 additional Democratic senators.

The bill stipulates that submitting a bid to participate in E1 tenders could constitute grounds for sanctions. Furthermore, activities related to the construction, financing, organization, or facilitation of transferring Israeli colonists to the project could also trigger these penalties.

If enacted, the legislation would authorize the US Department of the Treasury to target bidders, financiers, and other entities involved in executing the project.

The E1 project is an Israeli colonial settlement plan aimed at linking the Ma’ale Adumim settlement with occupied East Jerusalem through the construction of thousands of colonial settlement units and related infrastructure east of Jerusalem. T

The project’s strategic significance stems from its geographic location, as its implementation could sever territorial contiguity between the northern and southern parts of the West Bank and further isolate Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings.

The United Nations has issued similar warnings, cautioning that development in the E1 area could fracture the territorial continuity of the West Bank and permanently disconnect East Jerusalem from the rest of the Palestinian territory.
