RAMALLAH, Monday, September 16, 2019 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies continued to highlight today the repercussion of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s declaration regarding annexing the West Bank’s Jordan Valley and northern Dead Sea.
Al-Ayyam said the Netanyahu government held its weekly meeting on the eve of the Israeli elections in the Jordan Valley.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which met in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, yesterday, condemned and rejected the Israeli move on the occupied Jordan Valley.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Palestinian presidency stressed that the Palestinian people are the only ones who decide the future of their land and that Jewish settlements are illegal.
It said the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) said it will not remain the only party adhering to the signed agreements with Israel and that Netanyahu is responsible for the end of the peace process.
The paper also said that President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the attack on Saudi Arabia.
Al-Quds said a new illegal Jewish settlement was set up in the Jerusalem area while the Israeli security officials seem ready to endorse allowing individual Israelis to own property in the occupied territories.
It said Palestinian land is being transferred to Israeli groups and officials in deals struck in Jordan, adding that experts called for strict laws in Jordan against this.
Al-Ayyam had the same stories about the OIC, the PLO and the Palestinian presidency on the Jordan Valley issue and added remarks by PLO secretary general Saeb Erekat stressing that every single stone in the settlements is illegitimate and constitutes a war crime.
It said that factions in Gaza are discussing a vision for intra-Palestinian reconciliation, which could be announced in three days.
It quoted Hamas officials saying that the Islamic movement is taking Israeli threats against Gaza seriously but that it is ready to confront any aggression.
The paper said that in Gaza, a woman teacher was severely beaten by her father and brother in front of her students and colleagues.
