NABLUS, May 18, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists set fire to large areas of farmland in the village of Duma, south of Nablus, early Sunday morning, according to local sources.
Suleiman Dawabsha, head of the Duma village council, said the colonists ignited fires on the southwestern side of the village, causing the blaze to spread across hundreds of dunums of land. Some of the affected areas were cultivated with olive trees, which are a vital source of livelihood for local residents.
He confirmed that Palestinian civil defense crews managed to extinguish the flames and bring the fire under control.
Dawabsha emphasized that the most serious threat facing Duma is the rapid spread of Israeli grazing outposts, which he described as spreading "like cancer" and devouring the lands of the village. He added that the village is regularly subjected to attacks by colonists, including repeated assaults on residents and their property.
