RAMALLAH, Monday, April 08, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces dawn Monday detained at least 19 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

PPS confirmed in a press release that five Palestinians were rounded up from the central West Bank district of Ramallah and al-Bireh.

Israeli military vehicles raided Nabi Saleh village, northwest of Ramallah city, where soldiers detained two Palestinians, including Muhammad, the brother of Ahmed Tamimi, the iconic anti-occupation teen who had served eight months in detention for slapping a fully-armed Israeli soldier who broke into her house on December 15, 2017.

Israeli forces also raided Silwad town, east of Ramallah, detaining a Palestinian.

Two others, including a 16-year-old teen suffering from fractured leg and shoulder, were rounded up from al-Bireh city.

Meanwhile, PPS confirmed that three Palestinians were rounded up from Jenin district.

The three were detained during an Israeli military raid that triggered violent confrontations in Jenin refugee camp.

During ensuing confrontations, soldiers opened fire towards local youngsters who attempted to block their entry, causing dozens to suffocate. All suffocation cases received treatment at the scene.

Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, PPS said that a former prisoner and a 19-year-old university student were rounded up from Tulkarem district.

Two others were rounded up in an overnight Israeli military raid into Jayyous village, east of Qalqiliya city.

In the Jordan Valley, PPS confirmed that a Palestinian was detained from Jericho district.

In the southern West Bank, Israeli forces conducted several raids across Hebron district, resulting in the detention of six Palestinians.

Security sources said that two Palestinians, including a former prisoner, were detained from Hebron city, another from al-Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron, two others from Sair town, northeast of Hebron city, and another from Yatta town, south of Hebron.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
